Is it Fall yet?

Sweater-Ann Taylor/Tank-Love on a Hanger/Jeans-H&M/Shoes-Blowfish

The past few days have been a bit odd. It's still August, yet the weather can't seem to decide if it's done being summer or not. This morning, it was a bit chilly, so naturally I put on a cardigan. Then, a few hours later it warmed up and was a nice 70 degree day. This sure is making getting dressed in the morning difficult. Anyways, after getting to wear a sweater today, I've decided I'm actually looking forward to the cooler weather. I always get excited to start wearing tights, scarves, boots, etc. So while most people around here are avoiding any mention of the "F word," I say bring it on, Fall. My closet is ready for you.

Happy Wednesday!

Lazing On a Sunday Afternoon

 Top-H&M/Jeans-H&M/Sandals-Target

Today was lovely and lazy, which is just how a hot summer day should be. My outfit was nothing special, just an easy one that is perfect for lounging around. The color of this top is one of my favorites, and until today, I was not sure what to refer to it as. But while out and about this afternoon, a stranger made a comment that my shirt looked like "pistachio salt water taffy." At first I thought it was an odd thing to say, but then remembered how much I love salt water taffy, and decided I was OK with that description. I'm just glad to put a name to the color. So thank you stranger, for your wise words of color description.

My salt water taffy shirt and I are off to enjoy the evening!
Happy Sunday!

Oh, and P.S.
I wore this shirt the other day to a family function. And apparently my husband and brother-in-law had also heard how awesome this color is. The bowl/vases are courtesy of my mother-in-law, who was WAY ahead of us on the pistachio trend. Since we're dorks, we wanted to document the fact that we were all coincidentally matching.

Cropped

Top-H&M/Skirt-H&M/Sandals-Urban Outfitters

Hey everyone!
I'll admit, I was a bit worried about wearing this top today. I've always been intimidated by the idea of cropped shirts, but I decided to face my fear, and go with it. I absolutely love the little pink and white bow print. I probably would have taken this shirt home it no matter what the shape of it was. The bows sucked me in! I decided to pair it with a pencil skirt to keep it nice and simple. I actually am totally loving the combo. This top is a bit longer in the back than the front, which I think helps it from looking like a box. I have an irrational fear of my clothes looking too boxy, hence the avoidance of cropped tops. But I went out on a fashion limb, and am kind of obsessed with them now. I'll have to add a few more to my collection soon.

Happy Friday!

Sunset Camouflage.

Dress-Forever 21/Cardigan-H&M/Wedges-Nine West Vintage Collection

This dress has been officially titled the "Sunset Camouflage" dress. You know, just in case I find myself somewhere at sunset and need to blend in with my surroundings, I'll know exactly what to wear. I like to always be prepared, you know? This is one of my favorite dresses for this summer. I especially love the color palette. I usually tend to avoid nude colored clothing, since it makes me look pretty washed out. But this dress has just enough of the peach/salmon color to keep it from looking too drab.

I hope you guys are having a wonderful day. I'm off work early, so that always makes my day a bit wonderful.
Happy Tuesday!

Hot Pink.

Tank-H&M/Jeans-H&M/Shoes-Blowfish/Bag-Target

Yesterday's outfit was a bit of a last minute one. I had to wake up really early to do hair/makeup for an awesome bridal party, and was wanting something comfortable and easy to move around in.  I'm surprised the outfit turned out pretty decent considering the fact that I was half asleep while getting dressed. I'm pretty sure I just threw on the first thing I grabbed. Who am I kidding? That is how I get dressed almost everyday.

I absolutely love this pink tank top. I got it a few months ago and I think it was only five dollars or so. It's very light weight and great for warm summer days. Plus, it's hot pink. I'll wear just about anything that is hot pink, except for maybe a poncho. I'm also wearing about a pound of hairspray on my clothes. This is an unavoidable occurrence after a day of wedding hair. The untrained eye cannot see it, which is probably a good thing. If you could see it, I'd probably be given the "hot mess" award for the day.

I'm off to enjoy the warmth and sunshine, hope you all are able to do the same!
Happy Sunday <3.

Shoespiration

Hello, friends! Today I wanted to share some shoespiration. Yes, I know that is not a real word, but don't you agree that it should be? It has a great ring to it. So lately  I've been getting a bit bored with my shoe collection. Which seems a bit silly, as I have more shoes than I need. But despite the fact that I don't need any, I put together a little wish list of shoes I found through Pinterest. Wishing never hurt anybody, right?

The majority of my shoes at the moment are neutrals, and I am loving the idea of some color and texture added to my collection. My favorite are the blue wedges with the bows on them.  I'm pretty sure they need to find a home in my closet.

What are some of your favorite must-have shoes?

Happy Thursday!

A new shade.

Hello, lovelies.
I have been a bad blogger this week. I wish I had an amazing excuse as to why, but there really isn't one. Anyways, just wanted to drop in and say hello, and to post a picture of my new hair color. Now, most of you are probably thinking that it doesn't look too different, as it's still red. But it is indeed a new hue. And it's also a bit brighter. Go big or go home, right?
There's something very refreshing about a new shade of hair. Change is good.
I hope you are all well, and I promise to be back to regular posting tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!
xoxoKelsey.

Chelsea and Kelsey

Last Sunday, I got to meet up with this little lady...
Chelsea from Zipped

She is adorable, and such a sweet girl. It was my first time meeting someone from the blogging world, and it's so nice getting to meet someone in person after reading their blog for so long.
We decided to check out the Fremont Market, which is a flea market with vintage goods, food, crafts, and all sorts of great finds.

Here's what I wore.

Top-Thrifted/Skirt-H&M/Cardigan-Forever 21/Sandals & Bag-Target

We had a blast looking around the market, and getting to know each other. If you guys are in the Seattle area and have not checked out the Fremont Market, you must. Especially if you love vintage clothing, and lots of fun knick-knacks.
You should also check out Chelsea's blog...she is super cute and has an awesome sense of style.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Makeup Favorites.

Hello, lovelies!
I wanted to share my favorite makeup products with you from the past few months. I am a makeup junkie, and am always on the lookout for the best things out there. Hopefully this post will get you to discover something you'll love as well.

1. NARS Blush in Desire. This color is a gorgeous bright pink. It looks a bit daunting in the pan, but when used with a light hand it gives a perfect wash of color for the summer. 2. NYX Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black. I love this stuff. It's my favorite black liner at the moment. It's easy to use, and allows me to do the most perfect winged liner. And winged liner is pretty much a daily requirement. 3. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain. This is seriously my new obsession. It gives the perfect amount of coverage while still looking very dewy and natural. Plus it has SPF 20, which is amazing. Also, it is the only tinted moisturizer I've found that is pale enough for my skin. 4. MAC Fix+. I've been using this product for years. It's a skin refresher and a makeup setting spray. I always use this after I finish my makeup to prevent it from looking too powdery. 5. MAC Cream Colored Base in Luna. This is an absolutely gorgeous highlighter. I use it on my cheeks, my brow bone, and on my cupid's bow. It has a beautiful sheen, and has no sparkle or glitter in it. 6. MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. During the summer, I don't tend to wear a lot of eye shadow. This product is a creamy flesh-toned eye shadow base that is perfect on it's own as a neutral wash of color. It's also awesome as an eye shadow base. 7. Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Blackest Black. This mascara is wonderful. It makes your lashes look really thick, and doesn't run or flake. I think I'm already on my third tube of it! 8. Palladio Rice Powder in Translucent. I first purchased this powder to use on a client for her wedding, and loved it so much that I bought some for myself. It's finely milled, controls oil, and sets your foundation perfectly.

So those are my current favorite makeup products. Hopefully you guys enjoy this kind of post, because I love getting to talk about makeup. So much so, that I had to cut down the description of each item like three times. I had pretty much written a novel, and figured you'd rather not have to read one. :)

What are some of your favorites?

Happy Saturday!
xoxoKelsey.

Wrinkled

Top-Forever 21/Jeans- H&M/Shoes- Urban Outfitters

First of all, I apologize for the horrible wrinkled mess that is my top. I swear I know how to iron, and I indeed used one before I put this on. I have a love/hate relationship with this shirt. We go way back. It used to be a dress, that hit just above the knee. A husband, who shall remain nameless, accidentally shrank it. I grieved for a bit, since it was my favorite dress. I finally realized I could wear it as a top. Thank goodness for my innovative thinking. I love the color and pattern, and it's still one of my favorite things in my wardrobe.
Now if I could only figure out a way to get it to stop wrinkling after I put it on, I'll be golden.

Happy Thursday!

Silk.

                                       Scarf-Thrifted/Cardigan-H&M/Dress-Thrifted/Shoes-TOMS

I've come across a reoccurring (and insignificant) problem in my life. It seems as if when the first day of my work week roles around, I have a hard time putting a decent outfit together. I think maybe it has to do with the fact that I am a bit more carefree on the weekends, and often on days off I am wearing a t-shirt and jeans. OK, it's probably just sheer laziness. I admit it.
Lately I've been obsessed with silk scarves. I've purchased a few here and there from different thrift shops and markets, and absolutely love them. I mostly wear them in my hair, and I think they can make a fairly simple and plain outfit a bit more exciting. I'm loving the pink/green/navy combo. This dress is so simple, and I can pair just about anything with it. Which is perfect on those days where getting dressed is a bit of a challenge.

I am off to enjoy a lunch break to visit with a few of my favorite friends. Friendships are the best, don't you agree?
Happy Tuesday to all of you!

xoxoKelsey.

P.S. I gave my blog a little makeover, hope you guys like it! I wanted to simplify the look of it, as I'm trying to simplify the content as well. I want to focus a bit more on what I truly love to share with you guys. I'm kind of heading into the style/beauty side of things full time. It's my passion, and what better things to talk about than those that I am truly passionate about? I have some fun and exciting new posts in the near future!

A lot of bows.

Shirt-Forever 21/ Skirt-H&M/ Wedges- Blowfish

You know those articles of clothing and accessories you tend to
wear way too often? Like, to the point where you are pretty sure everyone
around notices how often you wear them? Let me present to you the blue
bow that is in my hair in the pictures above.  I'm obsessed with it. I seriously love
how girly and whimsical hair bows are. They are a perfect addition to almost
 any outfit.

My best friend came back from living in Turkey for a year, and brought
this gorgeous bow back for me. She knows me so well! I was told by her
that big hair bows are all the rage there, so naturally I'm feeling pretty hip
and in-the-know. I'll admit, it's almost embarrassing how much I wear it. I've
had it for about 3 weeks, and it's been attached to my head ever since. Except
for showers and sleeping, of course.

This week has been beautiful so far, hope you fellow Seattle residents are soaking up the sun like crazy!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a very important frozen yogurt date to attend.

xoxoKelsey.

Chartreuse and Aqua.

Recently I have been incredibly bored with the decor in our apartment. Mostly because it is almost non-existent  In the past five years, I've moved about six times. Moving so frequently has made me really never want to spend anytime on decorating. I felt like the time it went up, it had to be taken back down. I finally put my foot down and decided that a cute place to live is a necessity. These plain white walls were getting on my nerves.
So, I got the idea to paint some old picture frames that I didn't really like, and turned them into something that are more our style.

This is such an easy DIY project for anyone to do. All I did was sand the picture frames a tiny bit, and then painted them with a foam paint brush and acrylic paint that I picked up at the craft store. It took about 3 coats for each frame, but they are not 100% opaque. I wanted the old frame color to kind of peak through the paint. They dried in less than an hour, and were ready to hang!

Can I just say that I am OBSESSED with these frames now? The colors are more beautiful than I expected them to be. The new frames really add a bit of cheer our little tiny studio. I also love the combo of the chartreuse and aqua with our old pink couch (see here). I love mixing unexpected colors together.

If you are feeling crafty, and like sprucing up a room in your place, or you are like us and your entire place is one room, then I suggest trying out some new colored picture frames.

xoxoKelsey.

P.s. I've been extra crafty lately, and will share all the finished projects as they are completed!
