Put a bird on it.

Top,Skirt, and Sweater-H&M/Boots-BCBGeneration/Hair clip-Target

I've always had a thing for birds. I know that nowadays pretty much everything has a bird on it. (Portlandia, anyone?) But that has not stopped my love for the them. So imagine my excitement when I found this skirt last week at H&M. I literally spotted it from the other side of the store and dashed over to get it. It was calling my name, I swear. I'm excited to style it in the spring/summer pretty soon!

Speaking of summer, can we talk about how old winter is getting? I am so ready for some warmer weather. Sure, I love wearing tights and boots and sweaters, but I'd kill for some sandals and summer dresses! Today is actually nice and sunny, though, so I'll put on my sunglasses and pretend it's 70 degrees outside :).

Happy Monday!

The last five days.

This past week I got to spend five days in California with my family. It was a bit of an early birthday present, and it was definitely a much needed vacation. I didn't have a computer on me, so I have a TON of pictures to put up in one post. Here we go!

First I spent a day with my parents and siblings:
 My brother Jake and I.
My little sister, Maddie. I like to call her my twin.
The gorgeous view from my parents backyard.
The real reason I went to California: In-N-Out.
And then I met the sweetest puppy of all time, Napoleon!

The next day my mom and I went to Disneyland! It was warm and sunny, and literally the best day of the trip.

 Isn't my mama gorgeous?
An entire store just of Little Mermaid things. I should probably just move here...
All of my dreams came true in one moment. I got to go on The Little Mermaid ride!

The next day I had breakfast with my mom, grandma, aunt, and my cousins. My aunt, cousin, and I all share a birthday this month, so we decided to get together and have a Calamity Jane themed party. (What? You've never seen that movie!? Here's a little number from it.)
Ever since I was a kid, the girls on my mom's side of the family have loved the movie. I've seen at least 30 times.
So, what better movie to have as a theme for a birthday party?

The best birthday breakfast of all time. Lemon-blueberry pancakes!
I took about twenty pictures with my little cousin, Grace. She's too cute!

My cousin and I discovered that we have a secret cake decorating talent. Watch out, Cake Boss!
You can't have a western themed birthday without some good ol' Sarsaparilla! It's Calamity Jane's favorite, of course.

The birthday ladies with my grandma.

There is nothing better than a week filled with sunshine, family, laughter, and Disneyland. As much as I love living in Seattle, every time I go home to California I fall back in love with it. I'm pretty lucky to have such a wonderful place to visit so often.
If I could just bring some of the sunshine up to Washington with me, I'd be set!

Hope you had a wonderful week/weekend. I'm hoping to go back to regular posts here shortly, though I say that far too often :).

Happy Monday!

Disney love.

Cardigan-H&M/Tank-Urban Outfitters/Skirt-Target/Boots-Steve Madden

Hello, lovelies!
This past week was a great one. I'd say it was a mixture of sunshine, busy work days, lots of laughter, and fun. I've been extra happy this week because I leave for California on Wednesday night!  I'll make sure to blog about my trip, but know that Disneyland, a Calamity Jane themed birthday party, and lots of pictures of princesses will be included. (No worries, the Calamity Jane theme will be explained later.) The trip itself is for my upcoming birthday, and yes, I am going to Disneyland for my 24th birthday. I don't care how old I am, I'll always have a thing for Disney princesses and splash mountain.
 Always.

Anyways, the weather here is finally warming up. It's much more pleasant to take outfit pictures when it's not like 35 degrees outside. I'm crossing my fingers that the warmer weather sticks around for awhile. Or forever. I'd be fine with that, too :).

Happy Sunday!

Hairspiration: Headband party

This month's hairspiration post is all about headbands. I don't know about you guys, but I think that headbands are one of the best hair accessories out there. Not only do they add a little pop to any hair style, but they come in all shapes, sizes, and materials.

I always love throwing on a headband when my hair is pinned back, or when I just feel like I need a little something extra with my outfit.

Here are a few pictures that I have been looking at a lot lately. They've really inspired me to wear a lot more of my headbands in my collection. I've decided to start channeling my inner Blair Waldorf, as she is the queen of the headband. And yes, I do watch Gossip Girl. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. I admit it.

Hope you enjoyed my hairspiration for the month.
Now go rock a headband, scarf, or whatever accessory you'd like!
                                   Happy Wednesday!

Shadow Proves the Sunshine

V-neck-Urban Outfitters/Shoes-Target/Headband-Forever 21

I know this a pretty casual and unexciting outfit, but I got ready pretty quickly this morning. Plus I was more worried about getting outside in the sun than in what I was wearing. Yes, you heard me right, SUN! I rushed out this morning to go on a lovely walk with a friend around Green Lake, and then drank coffee and read outside for awhile. Let's just say it was an amazing way to spend my day off.

As much as I miss living somewhere with more frequent sunny days, there is nothing better than the first few days of warm sun after months of clouds. Every time we get a sunny day around here, I can't help but start singing this song by Switchfoot. It's always been one of my favorites! You should listen to it and enjoy it as well.

I hope you guys were lucky to have a sunny day, too!
Happy Monday!

I'm back!

So, I took an impromptu break from blogging last week. Don't worry, these was definitely a good reason for it. My very best friend came to Seattle for five days, and it was pretty much the best few days I've had in awhile. We laughed, ate, drank coffee, watched movies, cracked up at our own jokes, took a road trip, and reminisced about the past.

We've been best friends since we were six. Impressive, right? I tend to think of her as my soul-mate. In a platonic/best friend kind of way, of course.

Here's a (large) amount of pictures from her time here. We think we're pretty awesome, and therefore we take a ton of pictures of our time together :).

We drank a lot of coffee. How cool are those wooden blocks?
Powell's bookstore. We traveled to Portland mainly to go here. It's magical.
 More coffee.
An obscene amount of chocolate for two people to consume. We couldn't help ourselves, there was a huge selection!
 Roastin' some marshmallows.
 Isn't she darling?
No big deal, we just were offered free smore's at a bar we went to. It was amazing.
A sneaky shot taken by the bestie.
Portage Bay Cafe. Hands down one of my favorite breakfast spots in Seattle.
We kept a journal all through high school. I'm sure you guys can imagine what kind of embarrassing things this little thing holds. So much laughter went on while reading this.
So good. I love free chips and salsa. Everything tastes better when it's free, no?

Best friends really are such a blessing. I'm really glad that I decided to take some days off of blogging in order to really enjoy some time with her. Time with her is better than just about anything.
I did miss reading my favorite blogs and talking to you guys, though. I'm looking forward to getting back into the blogging swing!

Happy Thursday!
xoxoKelsey.
