Crafting love.

There is something about this time of the year that makes my desire to make things go crazy. And the past few weeks I have been busting out crocheted items left and right. Blankets, hats, headbands, etc. I've been spending time on Pinterest (no surprise there),  and I actually found a few crafts that are beauty related. I'm pretty much in love. Pinterest is seriously the best source of craft ideas for the craft obsessed, like myself.

Crafts + Beauty = Perfection.

Here are the ones I really am wanting to make:

A magnetic makeup board. Such a perfect idea for storing the makeup you use daily.

An old spice rack turned nail polish holder! Genius!

Magnetic strip turned bobby pin holder. I about died when I saw this. I am a bit of a bobby pin hoarder, and I lose them in about five minutes after getting them. This would also be awesome to have at my salon.

Aren't those projects neat? If any of you guys decide to try one out, take a picture and let me know! I'm curious to see how others would make these!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Straight

Top-Forever 21/Pants-H&M/Sweater-No idea??/Shoes-Franco Sarto/Necklace-Betsy Johnson

These pants are one of my favorite clothing items at the moment. Normally I'm not drawn to brown, but I saw these awhile ago at H&M and thought "Go crazy, try them on!" Turns out I love them. I also love pairing black and brown together. Some may look at my pants and shoes and think I'm pulling a major fashion faux pas. But I live on the wild side, and mixing faux pas is sort of a specialty of mine.

Do you notice something different about me? Here...I'll give you a hint: it's red and on my head! I got a haircut, and I'm sort of in love. I have not had a real haircut in way too many months. I've been trying to grow it out, but decided a small trim was in order. I'm a bit ashamed to call myself a hairstylist with my lack of haircuts. Luckily for me I have a sister-in-law who is also a stylist, and she graciously cut my hair over the weekend. It feels weird wearing it straight, but I'm sort of loving the change of pace. And I haven't been waking up in the morning with a curly afro, so that's always a plus.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful week so far.

Lipstick love: fall favorites

Hi, lovely readers!
Today I wanted to share something with you guys that I totally love.
This something would be lipstick. I love lipstick more than I probably should, meaning I probably have more lipstick than I probably should. One of my favorite things about the change of seasons is switching up my daily lip color. I've been pulling out a lot of my darker colors these past few weeks, and am totally obsessing over them. Darker shades are great for adding a nice bit of color to your face, and can add something special to an everyday outfit.
Here are a few of my favorite lip colors for the fall, hope you love them just as much as I do.
 From left to right:
-MAC's plushglass in Oversexed
-Illamasqua's lipstick in Wanton
-Revlon's lipstick in Violet Frenzy
-MAC's lipstick in Mystic
-Korres lip butter in Wild Rose

Here they are swatched from left to right:
Mystic, Violet Frenzy, Wanton, Wild Rose, Oversexed.

Do you guys love lip products as much as I do? What are some of your favorite fall shades?
Have a happy Monday!
xoxoKelsey.

Lately

1. We rode a ferry to visit some friends. Isn't the view from the dock awesome? 2. Some boxes of color at work. Those numbers are a a part of a secret hairstylist code. 3. My littlest niece, Cali, was dedicated on Sunday. She's so sweet. 4. My hubby on the ferry. He looks pretty darn cute. 5. We had AMAZING cupcakes at a volunteer dinner at our church. The frosting is almost as tall as the cupcake itself! 6. We found a local restaurant that serves Australian pies. They were delicious. 7. My new lipstick love. I have so many lipsticks, it's pathetic. Can't. Stop. Buying. Them. 8. The menu from Pies and Pints, the restaurant that serves Australian pies! 9. I made the most amazing cake batter bars from a recipe I found on pinterest. I can try and post it if you guys are interested! 10. I am reading this book currently, and am in love with it. It's a bit quirky, which is right up my alley.

I hope your week is going well. I'm a bit ill, so excuse me if I'm a bit slacking in the blog post department. I'm hoping a cold now means no cold this winter. I'll be doubling up on my vitamin intake from now on just in case!
Happy Tuesday!

It was called yellow.

Do you ever have moments in your life where you become really fixated on a color? Like to the point where you want to buy a whole new wardrobe because you're so obsessed? Lately I seem to be having a bit of a love affair with all things yellow. I don't own a lot of yellow clothing, (maybe two items?) but I've been dreaming about the color nonstop. Yellow shoes, yellow tights, yellow dresses, and even yellow nail polish! I shocked myself at how much I've grown to love the color, as it has never been one of my favorites. OK, that's a lie. I own a bright yellow Volkswagen, and I'm a big fan of it. I guess I just have recently rediscovered my love for it.  I really wanted to share some lovely yellow pictures via pinterst that have been inspiring me lately. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Oh happy day.

Dress-Thrifted/Sweater-H&M/Shoes-Urban Outfitters

Today was one of those unexpected good days. I'm a big fan of lists, so I made one to explain why it was so awesome.
1. I decided to get dressed up on my day off.  Who doesn't like feeling dressed up?
2. A barista gave me a discount on my coffee because he liked my hair. Note to self: bright hair has its perks.
4. I cut one of my best friend's hair. I hadn't seen him for awhile, and enjoyed catching up with him.
5. I bought a new lipstick. I may be the only one who considers that an important event in their life.
6. I played my guitar for an hour or so, and am finally getting the hang of it. Thank you, husband, for your guitar teaching skills. I'm almost a master.
7. I was reminded of God's provision, and how He is always there when I am weary.

Aren't good days wonderful? I hope you had a great one as well, and that tomorrow is even better!

Wedding Weekend!

Hello, lovelies!
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of being the matron of honor in my friend Rachael's wedding. It was a ton of fun, and I loved every minute of it. I've known Rachael since I was born (she's ten days older), so we've pretty much been friends since day one.
Friday was spent getting pampered and preparing for the big day. I got to spend time with the other bridesmaids and some of Rachael's family. On Saturday we woke up early so we could start on hair and makeup. I had the honor of doing Rachael's, and I think she looked absolutely amazing. It was a clear and crisp sunny day, which made for the most perfect wedding. I was able to snap quite a few pictures of the weekend, and I wanted to share them with you guys! Sorry for so many pictures, but I just wanted to share them all :).

Aren't weddings the best? There is nothing like watching two people commit their lives to each other and to the Lord.
I hope your weekend was just as wonderful!
Happy Monday.
xoxoKelsey.

Orange you glad.

Sweater-Forever 21/Jeans-H&M/Boots-Steve Madden/Pashmina-gift :)

I've officially decided that I am having a love affair with this scarf. My best friend brought it back from Turkey for me, and I've been waiting for the cooler weather to try it out. Orange is not a color that I'm usually drawn too, but this shade is amazing. It's like a pumpkin spice latte wrapped around my neck. OK, maybe not. You guys get the picture, right?
It also adds some interest to my bag lady shapeless sweater. This sweater is one of those items in my wardrobe that I know is not very at all flattering, but I'll wear it to death anyways. Good thing I live in Seattle. The whole bag lady look is pretty trendy here.
AKA
I'm totally hip.

Today is my Friday. I'm usually at work Tuesday through Saturday, so the thought of having two extra days off of work is pretty wonderful. And it's especially wonderful that I get to spend the next two days with one of my best friends while she marries the man of her dreams!
Anyways, I'm off to get things ready for my dear friend's wedding weekend. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures to share with you guys.
Happy Thursday.
xoxoKelsey.

Morning

Dress-Forever 21/Sweater-H&M/Tights-Hue (the best)/Boots-BCBGeneration

Instructions on how to have the best morning ever:
1. Sleep in.
2. Take time to curl your hair, despite the fact that it takes forever.
3. Give yourself a really bad burn on your arm while curling your hair.
4. Wear a dress that you haven't worn in awhile, and fall back in love with it.
5. Get an Americano at your favorite coffee shop for the ride to work.
6. Spill your (super hot) Americano all over your freshly burnt arm and the sweater you wore to cover it up.
7. Sigh in relief that you missed your dress in the coffee spilling accident.
8. Decide that even though your arm hurts, you smell like coffee, and you are insanely clumsy, that you are going to rejoice in the Lord, and have a great day.
(Steps 3 and 6 are optional)

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope your day is a great one. Hopefully yours is coffee stain free.
xoxoKelsey.
