Getting old.

Lately, I've been thinking about how fast everyone in my family is growing up. Being the oldest child, I liked growing up because it meant getting to experience everything first. I got my license first, got a broken heart first, turned eighteen first, graduated high school first, etc. And for some funny reason, I've never expected my three siblings to grow up and do the same. I expect them to stay my little brothers and sister forever. Well, they are definitely not little anymore. Literally they are all taller than me. So not fair, right? And despite my hesitation, they are turning into adults.  For example, my brother Jake is applying for colleges and graduating next summer, my sister Madison turns fifteen in a few days, and my brother Cameron just proposed to his lovely girlfriend, Kait. (She said yes, by the way).
It's so bittersweet, growing up. Don't you think?
It's so neat to see how God is choosing paths for each of my siblings, and to see their hopes and aspirations for the future. Yet, on the other hand, I feel like I want to always protect them and keep them at home for the rest of their lives. I'm sure my parents are glad that that decision is not up to me, ha ha. But despite my sadness,  I'm proud of each of them for being such awesome people.
Well, after all that nostalgic talk, I'm feeling pretty old. My gray hair and wrinkles are going to show up pretty soon.

One of the very best parts of being the oldest is posting old pictures of my siblings that I look totally awesome in while they look ridiculous. (Kidding, we all look a bit silly.)
Cameron and me, just being awesome.
Jake looking cute in his little pose, while I'm looking awesome in my Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt.
The four of us kids on Easter. Madison was the cutest baby!
You have to admit, our matching dresses were pretty awesome. Velvet and chiffon? Yes, please!

Does anyone else feel weird about growing up? I'm considering flying away to Neverland to avoid it all together...
Happy Friday!
xoxoKelsey.

p.s. Watch my brother's proposal here. My other brother Jake and some friends captured the big moment. It's so good!

Velma

Top-H&M/Skirt-H&M/Socks-Target/Boots-BCBGeneration

All day yesterday I was feeling a bit like Velma from Scooby-Doo. It may be due to my new glasses I've been wearing. I don't know what it is, but there is something about a new pair of frames that is pretty wonderful. I've been (rarely) wearing the same pair for six years, and decided it was time for an update. Surprisingly, I found these bad boys at Walmart. I'll admit, I try to avoid that place like the plague, but this time Wally World did OK. Who knows? Maybe they will have a orange turtleneck sweater with matching knee socks so I can really get into to the Velma spirit.

Happy Tuesday!

Favorite Things: Fall edition

So like many people right now, I am SO excited for fall. I've been wearing over the knee socks like there is no tomorrow, and dreaming of the days spent inside with a book and some candles.
I am so excited about it, that I decided a list of my favorite fall things is in order!

1. Cozy Hats
I've been looking forward to wearing cozy knit hats for a few months now. Mostly because now that my hair is at a decent length, I can wear them without looking bald! I've always been crocheting/knitting like crazy and can't wait to make some cute hats for the cold weather.

2. Candles
I know candles are not necessarily a seasonal thing, but I especially love them in the fall.
I always look forward to being able to find some new scents that I love. I've been hearing a lot of things about the smores candle they have at Bath and Body Works. Doesn't that sound amazing?

3. Baking
Baking is about the only thing I can do in the kitchen that I feel good about. Sure, I can throw together a meal, but there is something about baking some fresh cookies or a cake that completely captures my heart. I'm hoping to try out some new recipes this fall, which I'm pretty sure my husband is OK with.

4. Boots
If it were up to me, I'd wear boots every single day of the year. And luckily here in Seattle, we can get away with wearing them for a good majority of the time. I usually tend to go for tall over the knee boots (catching on to my over the knee love, yet?). This year I want to try a few different styles of boots, and perhaps some new shoes as well! The more the merrier.

5. Coffee
Again, coffee is not something that only comes around with one season of the year. But there is something magical about drinking a big mug of coffee while being snuggled up in a blanket with a book, while your hubby is giving you a foot massage. OK, that last part is a bit of a stretch..but it sounds great, right?

6. Mr. Campbell
OK, so he is not exactly directly related to fall. This year he totally is an excited part of mine. My dad is coming up to visit in November! He has not been up here for awhile, and I am SO excited to spend some time with him. We are going to go see They Might Be Giants, who I've been (forced) to listen to since I was a kid. OK, I love them. But I was indeed forced to listen to them despite my pleas to listen to The Backstreet Boys on car rides.
(That's my dad with one of his "kids" from Haiti.)

What are you most looking forward to this fall? I'd love to hear some of your favorite things!

A little update.

Hey friends! So I know I haven't shared much about my life in awhile, and wanted to make a little post about what's been going on these past few weeks.

Picture 1-4: Candy corn, coffee, over the knee socks, and cookies. These four things are an essential for Fall. I can't wait for it to get colder. (Yes, I know I just got done complaining about the lack of heat. Ha ha.)
Picture 5: We went and saw Blindside on Monday. Oh man, I LOVED Blindside in high school. I still love them, and enjoyed the nostalgia I got from seeing them again.
Picture 6: Ian, Thomas, and I made a little movie a few weeks ago. It was for a project Ian did for school. He got an A on the video, which is probably due to my awesome acting skills. You should watch it, he'd really love it if you did :)
Picture 7 and 8: I got new glasses this week. I'm pretty much obsessed with them. I used to never wear my glasses and would stick to contacts, but I think I may be leaning more towards wearing glasses all the time!
Picture 9, 10, and 11: I got to hangout with my nieces yesterday afternoon. Ian and I helped his sister and husband move some stuff into their new home, and we got to see these little ladies as well. I love them.

Now if you excuse me, I'm off to watch Breaking Bad with my hubby. Does anyone else watch this show? It's crazy!

Repeat.

Dress-Forever 21/Belt-Urban Outfitters/Sweater-H&M/Boots-BCBGeneration/Over the knee socks-Target

I hate to admit it, but I wore this exact same outfit two days in a row. I wore it to work on Saturday and out that night, and loved it so much I threw it back on for church the next day! I figured as long as I didn't run into too many of the same people, it's totally OK to be an outfit repeater every now and then. Can't let a great outfit go to waste, you know? Yesterday I got to spend time with my favorite kiddos at youth group. They are seriously so much fun, and are always making me laugh. I also sang with my hubby and the youth group band for the first time, which was a bit nerve wracking. I used to sing all the time, and it feels good to be back at it!  How was your Sunday?

Happy Monday!

Finally back.

Dress-Mimi Chica/Cardigan-H&M/Boots-Steve Madden

Hey, remember me?
 I used to blog here!
  I'm back!
I must say, even though taking a week off of blogging was unintentional, it was much needed. I've had a crazy few weeks, and taking a breather from this small part of my life was nice. Anyways, I'm back and hopefully here without anymore breaks for awhile, unless they are breaks I warn you about. I'm sure I had you guys worried as to what I was up to, right? No worries, I was just working and living the dream! It looks like I came back just in time for the beginning of Fall. It's been 65 degrees all week, which I am really loving. I even had a pumpkin spice latte to celebrate!
I hope all of you are doing well!

Happy Friday!

Movie Star.

Shirt-Forever 21/Jeans-H&M/Shoes-TOMS/Necklace-Nordstrom Rack (I think?)

Today, I had an awesome role in a feature film.
OK, so it was a small two minute film, and it was for my husband's school project. AND I didn't have any actual lines. I just had to pretend to fight with my fake boyfriend, who was played by one of my best buds. But hey, there's no such thing as small parts, just small actors. I'll take whatever I can get. This is what I wore for the movie and for the day. I really put no effort into the outfit this morning. Between the heat and it being a day off, I didn't care too much about what I was wearing. Plus, I didn't want to look like I dressed up to be in the film for thirty seconds.  I can't go all diva on everyone, you know?

Happy Friday, everyone! (TGIF!)

Deer

 Shirt and Skirt-H&M/Sandals-Target

You are probably all asking yourselves, "Does her shirt really have deer on it?" The answer is yes, yes it does. I'm not really a deer fanatic or anything, but for some reason I found this to be really cute. It's definitely a conversation piece, as I've had quite a few deer-related comments on it. It's also the perfect kind of shirt for the Summer/Fall transition. Long sleeved, but still lightweight and easy to wear.
All day yesterday I kept seeing posts on Facebook/Twitter saying that Summer was officially over. Funny, because it pretty much just started here in Seattle. I think I'll be a bit of a rebel and rock white for a few more weeks.
Happy Tuesday!
xoxoKelsey.

Fall beauty.

 via

One of my favorite beauty trends for Fall is the metallic smokey eye. Take your classic smokey eye and give it a twist by adding jewel tones and metallic colored eye shadows. Think gold, copper, and gunmetal. Isn't it gorgeous? I absolutely love this look. I usually wear very simple eye makeup, but I am dying to try this look for a night out or day at work. While looking for pictures of this trend, I found this awesome tutorial by Lisa Elderidge, who is one of my favorite makeup artists. She explains in detail on how to get the look and what products to use. Every gal who's a makeup lover should try this out. I think it would look beautiful on just about anyone.

What are your favorite Fall beauty trends?
Happy Sunday!

7th grade.

 Pants-H&M/Tank-Love On A Hanger/Shoes-Franco Sarto

These pictures were supposed to be posted last night, but they somehow disappeared. But when I turned on my computer today, they magically showed up. All those tears last night were for nothing. (Kidding.)
I have not owned a pair of colored pants since I was in middle school. So at first I was a bit worried of looking like my 7th grade self while wearing these. I actually like them a lot more than I was expecting to. I think they're a nice change of pace from the usual blue jeans. These pink beauties seem to have a lot of potential. Bright pants are a big trend for Fall, so I may need to get myself another pair.

I hope you all have an awesome Labor Day weekend, Happy Saturday!
xoxoKelsey.
