Random Thoughts

Today's random thoughts:

- I leave for New York City in 3 1/2 weeks. I am super excited to go back to one of my favorite places in the whole world! I will be there for seven days, four of which will be spent taking a class with Bumble and Bumble. Basically I'll be learning how to teach other hairstylists. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous.

-Mewithoutyou is my all time favorite band. They finally have a new album coming out next month, hooray! Here's the single from it. Listen to it. Love it.

-I now feel completely justified in my coffee addiction. Thank you, pinterest!

- Speaking of coffee, I finally reached the gold level at Starbucks. This basically just means I get a fancy gold card to use when I buy my coffee. Totally worth it. Some may see this as a small event in their lives, but I see it as a huge achievement. I maybe even cheered when it happened. Maybe.

- I am so excited for the summer. I am predicting that it will be the busiest summer I've had in awhile. But it will be a blast! We're moving (not too far away), one of my brother's graduates highschool, the other brother gets married, and then both brothers (and new sister-in-law) move to Washington. Yeah, I'm thinking the title "Busiest summer of all time" fits nicely.

-This morning while I was walking to my car, a homeless man informed me that he called a cab for me. Then he told me he liked me earrings, which have anchors on them, and then shouted "Ahoy, matey!"  Sometimes living in the city is extremely entertaining.

-I consider myself a pretty tidy person. But for some reason I can never keep my closet looking neat. Bathroom? Usually clean. Kitchen? Spotless. Closet? Total disaster at all times. And right now it looks like a tornado has gone through it. Twice.

I know this post was completely pointless. Sometimes those are the best ones, right?
I promise my next one will be much more cohesive. :)

Happy Tuesday!

Hey!

Hey, friends!
So today is kind of a big deal here on my little blog.
I made my first ever vlog! I'll admit, I was a bit nervous about making a video. The whole talking into a camera was a bit awkward, but I actually really enjoyed making it.
Hope you enjoy the whole world of video blogging, I hope to have some on here regularly!

Happy Wednesday!

The last five days.

This past week I got to spend five days in California with my family. It was a bit of an early birthday present, and it was definitely a much needed vacation. I didn't have a computer on me, so I have a TON of pictures to put up in one post. Here we go!

First I spent a day with my parents and siblings:
 My brother Jake and I.
My little sister, Maddie. I like to call her my twin.
The gorgeous view from my parents backyard.
The real reason I went to California: In-N-Out.
And then I met the sweetest puppy of all time, Napoleon!

The next day my mom and I went to Disneyland! It was warm and sunny, and literally the best day of the trip.

 Isn't my mama gorgeous?
An entire store just of Little Mermaid things. I should probably just move here...
All of my dreams came true in one moment. I got to go on The Little Mermaid ride!

The next day I had breakfast with my mom, grandma, aunt, and my cousins. My aunt, cousin, and I all share a birthday this month, so we decided to get together and have a Calamity Jane themed party. (What? You've never seen that movie!? Here's a little number from it.)
Ever since I was a kid, the girls on my mom's side of the family have loved the movie. I've seen at least 30 times.
So, what better movie to have as a theme for a birthday party?

The best birthday breakfast of all time. Lemon-blueberry pancakes!
I took about twenty pictures with my little cousin, Grace. She's too cute!

My cousin and I discovered that we have a secret cake decorating talent. Watch out, Cake Boss!
You can't have a western themed birthday without some good ol' Sarsaparilla! It's Calamity Jane's favorite, of course.

The birthday ladies with my grandma.

There is nothing better than a week filled with sunshine, family, laughter, and Disneyland. As much as I love living in Seattle, every time I go home to California I fall back in love with it. I'm pretty lucky to have such a wonderful place to visit so often.
If I could just bring some of the sunshine up to Washington with me, I'd be set!

Hope you had a wonderful week/weekend. I'm hoping to go back to regular posts here shortly, though I say that far too often :).

Happy Monday!

I'm back!

So, I took an impromptu break from blogging last week. Don't worry, these was definitely a good reason for it. My very best friend came to Seattle for five days, and it was pretty much the best few days I've had in awhile. We laughed, ate, drank coffee, watched movies, cracked up at our own jokes, took a road trip, and reminisced about the past.

We've been best friends since we were six. Impressive, right? I tend to think of her as my soul-mate. In a platonic/best friend kind of way, of course.

Here's a (large) amount of pictures from her time here. We think we're pretty awesome, and therefore we take a ton of pictures of our time together :).

We drank a lot of coffee. How cool are those wooden blocks?
Powell's bookstore. We traveled to Portland mainly to go here. It's magical.
 More coffee.
An obscene amount of chocolate for two people to consume. We couldn't help ourselves, there was a huge selection!
 Roastin' some marshmallows.
 Isn't she darling?
No big deal, we just were offered free smore's at a bar we went to. It was amazing.
A sneaky shot taken by the bestie.
Portage Bay Cafe. Hands down one of my favorite breakfast spots in Seattle.
We kept a journal all through high school. I'm sure you guys can imagine what kind of embarrassing things this little thing holds. So much laughter went on while reading this.
So good. I love free chips and salsa. Everything tastes better when it's free, no?

Best friends really are such a blessing. I'm really glad that I decided to take some days off of blogging in order to really enjoy some time with her. Time with her is better than just about anything.
I did miss reading my favorite blogs and talking to you guys, though. I'm looking forward to getting back into the blogging swing!

Happy Thursday!

Lately vol.4

Here's what I've been up to in the past few weeks:

1. I'm really in love with bows and stripes.
2. I've gone to the gym pretty regularly the past few weeks. I'd say I'm off to a good start at getting in shape!
3 and 4: My nephew, Micaiah, was born last week. We have two nieces, and are excited to have a little man around now! By the way, I think my husband is in love with him!
5. My salon is selling Bumble and Bumble products exclusively. I feel like a kid in a candy shop!
6. Winged liner and lipstick= LOVE.
7. A girlfriend and I made homemade pizza for our boys. It was pretty darn delicious, and a lot cheaper than eating out.
8. We then played a heated game of Phase 10.
9. Ice cream sundaes are definitely a part of my diet, so I'm hoping they contain some sort of fat burning qualities :).
10. I'm rereading The Hunger Games trilogy. It's even better than the first time I read it about a year ago!  Peeta is my book boyfriend forever and always.

I hope everyone is having a great week!
Happy Wednesday.

Merry Christmas!

I'm currently sitting in the airport on my way to Orange County to see my family for the holidays. This California girl is ready for some warm sunshine!
I hope you are able to spend time with your loved ones, and remember how blessed we are to be able to celebrate such a special day! Here are a few pictures of me and the hubs from a Christmas Ball we were a part for the youth group at our church. This is one of many photo booth sessions. If you are a family member of ours, you can count on receiving one of these pictures with your Christmas present :).

You're welcome for the last set of pictures. My husband thinks he is pretty hilarious. I do too, most of the time. I'm thinking we should use that last picture as our Christmas card next year. Classy.

I'll be back on Monday!
Merry Christmas!!
xoxoKelsey.

A few of my favorite things.

Here are a few of my favorite things from this week:

        1.  My salon now exclusively sells Bumble and bumble products. I'm like a kid in a candy store.
2.   How cute is this sparkly ring that my client gave me? So much love.
3. We threw a Christmas Ball for the kids in our youth group. It was filled with dinner, dancing, and photobooth pictures. It was awesome.
4. These girls let me do their hair for the ball. I love them so much! (The girl in the gold is my lovely sister-in-law.)
5. One of my best buds gave this to me. It's filled with beautiful projects and ideas.
6. I bought my first mid-length skirt last week. I was a bit weary to wear it at first, but I'm kind of digging it.
7. Theo is a local chocolate company that makes some awesome stuff. Including this peppermint drinking chocolate. It's insanely good.
8. Hot pink lipstick and long(er) hair. It's sure come a long way since the summer.
9. Knitted headbands. I've made quite a few of these for others, but I cheated and bought this little guy from Forever 21.
10. Anthropologie. Particularly their home section. I might just try and make my apartment look exactly like the store.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve Eve! (I had to count like three times to figure that out, ha.)
Happy Wednesday!
xoxoKelsey
