35.

Sweater-H&M/Shirt-H&M/Skirt-Forever 21/Tights-HUE/Shoes-Blowfish

This morning it was 35 degrees outside. 35!? That's like snow temperature, right? And if you look at my tightly clenched fists in some of my pictures, you can tell that I planned poorly in the outfit department for the weather. My husband kept saying "Kelsey, stop making fists!" as he took my pictures. I couldn't help it. Sorry, hubby. With all the years I spent acting, you'd think I could easily act as if I was nice and warm.
I did wear black tights with my open toed shoes as an attempt to counteract the cold, but it sure didn't help much in keeping my toes warm. Speaking of black tights, I'm trying to find out what brand makes the most opaque and affordable pair. So far my favorite ones are made by HUE, as well as the ones from Target. Any of you gals have a brand that you swear by? If so, please share. Inquiring minds want to know :).
Happy November, everyone! Oh, and Happy Wednesday!

Straight

Top-Forever 21/Pants-H&M/Sweater-No idea??/Shoes-Franco Sarto/Necklace-Betsy Johnson

These pants are one of my favorite clothing items at the moment. Normally I'm not drawn to brown, but I saw these awhile ago at H&M and thought "Go crazy, try them on!" Turns out I love them. I also love pairing black and brown together. Some may look at my pants and shoes and think I'm pulling a major fashion faux pas. But I live on the wild side, and mixing faux pas is sort of a specialty of mine.

Do you notice something different about me? Here...I'll give you a hint: it's red and on my head! I got a haircut, and I'm sort of in love. I have not had a real haircut in way too many months. I've been trying to grow it out, but decided a small trim was in order. I'm a bit ashamed to call myself a hairstylist with my lack of haircuts. Luckily for me I have a sister-in-law who is also a stylist, and she graciously cut my hair over the weekend. It feels weird wearing it straight, but I'm sort of loving the change of pace. And I haven't been waking up in the morning with a curly afro, so that's always a plus.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful week so far.

Lipstick love: fall favorites

Hi, lovely readers!
Today I wanted to share something with you guys that I totally love.
This something would be lipstick. I love lipstick more than I probably should, meaning I probably have more lipstick than I probably should. One of my favorite things about the change of seasons is switching up my daily lip color. I've been pulling out a lot of my darker colors these past few weeks, and am totally obsessing over them. Darker shades are great for adding a nice bit of color to your face, and can add something special to an everyday outfit.
Here are a few of my favorite lip colors for the fall, hope you love them just as much as I do.
 From left to right:
-MAC's plushglass in Oversexed
-Illamasqua's lipstick in Wanton
-Revlon's lipstick in Violet Frenzy
-MAC's lipstick in Mystic
-Korres lip butter in Wild Rose

Here they are swatched from left to right:
Mystic, Violet Frenzy, Wanton, Wild Rose, Oversexed.

Do you guys love lip products as much as I do? What are some of your favorite fall shades?
Have a happy Monday!
xoxoKelsey.

Orange you glad.

Sweater-Forever 21/Jeans-H&M/Boots-Steve Madden/Pashmina-gift :)

I've officially decided that I am having a love affair with this scarf. My best friend brought it back from Turkey for me, and I've been waiting for the cooler weather to try it out. Orange is not a color that I'm usually drawn too, but this shade is amazing. It's like a pumpkin spice latte wrapped around my neck. OK, maybe not. You guys get the picture, right?
It also adds some interest to my bag lady shapeless sweater. This sweater is one of those items in my wardrobe that I know is not very at all flattering, but I'll wear it to death anyways. Good thing I live in Seattle. The whole bag lady look is pretty trendy here.
AKA
I'm totally hip.

Today is my Friday. I'm usually at work Tuesday through Saturday, so the thought of having two extra days off of work is pretty wonderful. And it's especially wonderful that I get to spend the next two days with one of my best friends while she marries the man of her dreams!
Anyways, I'm off to get things ready for my dear friend's wedding weekend. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures to share with you guys.
Happy Thursday.
xoxoKelsey.

Velma

Top-H&M/Skirt-H&M/Socks-Target/Boots-BCBGeneration

All day yesterday I was feeling a bit like Velma from Scooby-Doo. It may be due to my new glasses I've been wearing. I don't know what it is, but there is something about a new pair of frames that is pretty wonderful. I've been (rarely) wearing the same pair for six years, and decided it was time for an update. Surprisingly, I found these bad boys at Walmart. I'll admit, I try to avoid that place like the plague, but this time Wally World did OK. Who knows? Maybe they will have a orange turtleneck sweater with matching knee socks so I can really get into to the Velma spirit.

Happy Tuesday!

Favorite Things: Fall edition

So like many people right now, I am SO excited for fall. I've been wearing over the knee socks like there is no tomorrow, and dreaming of the days spent inside with a book and some candles.
I am so excited about it, that I decided a list of my favorite fall things is in order!

1. Cozy Hats
I've been looking forward to wearing cozy knit hats for a few months now. Mostly because now that my hair is at a decent length, I can wear them without looking bald! I've always been crocheting/knitting like crazy and can't wait to make some cute hats for the cold weather.

2. Candles
I know candles are not necessarily a seasonal thing, but I especially love them in the fall.
I always look forward to being able to find some new scents that I love. I've been hearing a lot of things about the smores candle they have at Bath and Body Works. Doesn't that sound amazing?

3. Baking
Baking is about the only thing I can do in the kitchen that I feel good about. Sure, I can throw together a meal, but there is something about baking some fresh cookies or a cake that completely captures my heart. I'm hoping to try out some new recipes this fall, which I'm pretty sure my husband is OK with.

4. Boots
If it were up to me, I'd wear boots every single day of the year. And luckily here in Seattle, we can get away with wearing them for a good majority of the time. I usually tend to go for tall over the knee boots (catching on to my over the knee love, yet?). This year I want to try a few different styles of boots, and perhaps some new shoes as well! The more the merrier.

5. Coffee
Again, coffee is not something that only comes around with one season of the year. But there is something magical about drinking a big mug of coffee while being snuggled up in a blanket with a book, while your hubby is giving you a foot massage. OK, that last part is a bit of a stretch..but it sounds great, right?

6. Mr. Campbell
OK, so he is not exactly directly related to fall. This year he totally is an excited part of mine. My dad is coming up to visit in November! He has not been up here for awhile, and I am SO excited to spend some time with him. We are going to go see They Might Be Giants, who I've been (forced) to listen to since I was a kid. OK, I love them. But I was indeed forced to listen to them despite my pleas to listen to The Backstreet Boys on car rides.
(That's my dad with one of his "kids" from Haiti.)

What are you most looking forward to this fall? I'd love to hear some of your favorite things!

A little update.

Hey friends! So I know I haven't shared much about my life in awhile, and wanted to make a little post about what's been going on these past few weeks.

Picture 1-4: Candy corn, coffee, over the knee socks, and cookies. These four things are an essential for Fall. I can't wait for it to get colder. (Yes, I know I just got done complaining about the lack of heat. Ha ha.)
Picture 5: We went and saw Blindside on Monday. Oh man, I LOVED Blindside in high school. I still love them, and enjoyed the nostalgia I got from seeing them again.
Picture 6: Ian, Thomas, and I made a little movie a few weeks ago. It was for a project Ian did for school. He got an A on the video, which is probably due to my awesome acting skills. You should watch it, he'd really love it if you did :)
Picture 7 and 8: I got new glasses this week. I'm pretty much obsessed with them. I used to never wear my glasses and would stick to contacts, but I think I may be leaning more towards wearing glasses all the time!
Picture 9, 10, and 11: I got to hangout with my nieces yesterday afternoon. Ian and I helped his sister and husband move some stuff into their new home, and we got to see these little ladies as well. I love them.

Now if you excuse me, I'm off to watch Breaking Bad with my hubby. Does anyone else watch this show? It's crazy!

xoxoKelsey.

Repeat.

Dress-Forever 21/Belt-Urban Outfitters/Sweater-H&M/Boots-BCBGeneration/Over the knee socks-Target

I hate to admit it, but I wore this exact same outfit two days in a row. I wore it to work on Saturday and out that night, and loved it so much I threw it back on for church the next day! I figured as long as I didn't run into too many of the same people, it's totally OK to be an outfit repeater every now and then. Can't let a great outfit go to waste, you know? Yesterday I got to spend time with my favorite kiddos at youth group. They are seriously so much fun, and are always making me laugh. I also sang with my hubby and the youth group band for the first time, which was a bit nerve wracking. I used to sing all the time, and it feels good to be back at it!  How was your Sunday?

Happy Monday!
xoxoKelsey.

Finally back.

Dress-Mimi Chica/Cardigan-H&M/Boots-Steve Madden

Hey, remember me?
 I used to blog here!
  I'm back!
I must say, even though taking a week off of blogging was unintentional, it was much needed. I've had a crazy few weeks, and taking a breather from this small part of my life was nice. Anyways, I'm back and hopefully here without anymore breaks for awhile, unless they are breaks I warn you about. I'm sure I had you guys worried as to what I was up to, right? No worries, I was just working and living the dream! It looks like I came back just in time for the beginning of Fall. It's been 65 degrees all week, which I am really loving. I even had a pumpkin spice latte to celebrate!
I hope all of you are doing well!

Happy Friday!
xoxoKelsey.
